Product construction and operation

A pneumatic PVC ball valve combines a plastic-bodied rotary valve with an air actuator. The illustrated union-ended arrangement helps separate the valve body from adjoining pipe connections for compatible maintenance tasks. Plastic body material, seals and pipe-joint method must be selected together.

Selection and installation details

Do not transfer a pressure rating from a metal valve or assume that all plastic variants have identical temperature limits. Specify the exact polymer, joining method and seal material. Support the connected pipework so actuator weight and pipe movement do not place excessive loads on the plastic body. Confirm the operating pressure at the highest process temperature and include any cleaning or start-up excursions.

Review supply pressure at the equipment while it is operating, not only the compressor setting. Select accessories and the loss-of-air response for the complete assembly.
