Pneumatic T-Pattern Piston Valve

Product construction and operation

A T-pattern piston-operated valve places the pneumatic actuator above an in-line valve body. Linear movement opens or closes the internal seat. This arrangement differs from both an angled-seat valve and a rotary ball valve, so its flow path and force requirements should be evaluated independently.

• Actuator size depends on seat load, process pressure and available pilot air.

Selection and installation details

Provide process pressure on both sides of the closed valve, rather than only the upstream gauge pressure. The effective seat area and pressure direction determine the force the piston must overcome. Request flow coefficient data for the actual size where pressure loss matters. Define the required opening and closing times and whether the fluid system is sensitive to rapid shut-off.

Review supply pressure at the equipment while it is operating, not only the compressor setting. Select accessories and the loss-of-air response for the complete assembly.
