Product construction and operation

An electric PVC ball valve provides motor-driven operation in a plastic piping system. The union-style body and electric actuator form a compact assembly, but the mechanical loads from the actuator and adjoining pipe must be controlled to protect the plastic connections.

Configuration features

• Plastic valve body for media compatible with the specified polymer and seals.
• Union connections provide access for compatible service procedures.
• Electrical control can be specified for local or remote operation.

Selection and installation details

Use the pressure-temperature data for the chosen valve, not the actuator enclosure rating, to assess process suitability. Chemical compatibility includes the body, ball seats and elastomer seals. Specify the supply voltage and frequency, required stroke time and control signal, together with the medium and temperature. Avoid using connected plastic pipe as the sole support for an oversized drive or unsupported accessory package.

Define the power supply, command signal, position feedback and operating frequency. Confirm the response required after power or signal loss for the selected controls.

Application fit

Compatible water-treatment, dosing and plastic utility piping where electric control is preferred.
